Integrating psychology and faith to help you find hope, health, and healing.
Services
I help women, adolescent girls, couples, and families navigate trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and life transitions through online/virtual counseling. I integrate psychology and faith for therapy from a Christian counseling perspective.
I offer a safe, encouraging, and nonjudgemental space to talk about what is going on in your life. I provide education about how the brain, body, and spirit work together, so you can be empowered with knowledge and awareness about how your thoughts, beliefs, emotions, actions, and physical body work together. I will help you set goals based on the things you want and need, and support and encourage you as you work toward them. I will be intuitive and discerning on what you need each session, so we can go at your pace with your wants and needs. I will provide tools and resources when needed, so you can implement new skills, and make changes to grow, heal, mend what is needed.

About
Olivia Tidwell
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Development and Family Studies, and a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, both from the University of North Texas. I am a Certified Trauma Professional, and a Certified Grief Professional. I have additional training in Cognitive-behavioral therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention treatment to treat anxiety issues and disorders. I also have training in biblical counseling, and love to incorporate other therapies such as Adlerian, Narrative, and Solutions-focused theories.
My desire to become a counselor developed out of my own hardships and healing. I can say now that I have found hope, healing, and freedom in ways I never thought possible. This year I celebrate seven years of sobriety, and six years of marriage to my husband, Mitch. We now have two sweet sons, and they keep me busy, grateful, and growing! My life has changed radically, because of my faith, and I believe it can for you, too.
Now, I get to do one of my favorite things in the whole world, and that is get to help people like you overcome obstacles and live healthier lives. I am grateful you would consider me to go on this journey with you!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is counseling?
Counseling is a relationship that empowers you to accomplish your mental health, wellness, and education goals. I work with you on strategies to overcome obstacles and challenges, and to identify solutions to your problems.
Do I need counseling?
If you feel stuck, and what you are trying on your own is not working, then yes, you would be great fit for counseling. Maybe you have found yourself trying to avoid problems, cope in unhealthy ways, or trying to do it on your own without success. If you are aware of some areas in your life that need improvement, and are experiencing a conviction to change, you would be a great fit for counseling.
What will counseling look like?
The foundation of counseling is the relationship between client and counselor. We will work toward a relationship that is built on rapport and trust. It is important to me that you feel heard and valued. At times, you will lead in conversation about what is on your mind and heart. At other times, I will lead with activities and questions, or guide us to certain topics or discussions. We will work together to navigate your challenges and find solutions to the issues you are facing.
How will you help me?
I have an integrative approach to working with my clients that utilizes various approaches. You have a unique history, childhood, personality, experiences, circumstances, relational history, biology, and physiology that shape everything about you. I will customize your care based on what is most beneficial for you, so we will explore your struggles and pursue your goals in different ways and experiment with different techniques, activities, resources, and tools.
What will we do in my sessions?
Prior to your first session, you will complete an initial assessment and some paperwork. Our first session will be spent reviewing that information, addressing any questions or concerns you may have, and I will begin getting to know you, and hearing your story. Over the next few sessions we will talk about your struggles and goals and begin working together to develop a plan to help you accomplish your goals. At the same time, we will be discerning, intuitive and flexible about your needs session. I want to go at your pace, because I believe you are in charge of your progress and goals. I will encourage and support you along the way. We will also regularly evaluate your experience in our counseling sessions, so we can adjust or makes changes as we go to best serve you.
How many sessions do I need?
Typically, counseling is completed when the problems that brought you to counseling are manageable or resolved. Some clients may get all they need from a few sessions, and others may need much longer. I can recommend a number of sessions it might take to address your concerns and reach your goals. However, you are in control of the amount of sessions you feel comfortable completing, and we will be flexible over time depending on your financial investment, and goals.
How might I be able to receive potential reimbursement from my insurance company?
I do not accept or bill insurance, and I am considered an out-of-network provider, which means you will have to pay for your sessions out of pocket. However, if your insurance has out-of-network benefits, and you meet the criteria to receive a mental health diagnoses, I can provide you a super bill (invoice summary of paid sessions) to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. You are not guaranteed any reimbursement, and it depends on your insurance, so you will need to contact them to learn more about your specific plan.
